Role Overview: MRI Technologists utilize radiofrequencies within a magnetic field to perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging. They independently conduct MRI procedures, prepare and administer medications according to regulations, and analyze data for diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, properly identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history ensuring confidentiality.
- Use appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and adhere to ALARA principles for patient safety.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Assess image quality, verify data storage/transfer, and assist with interventional procedures.
- Evaluate images for proper positioning, educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, and apply safety principles to minimize risks.
- Select pulse sequences aligned with protocols and participate in quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrate proficiency in routine and complex duties, contributing to departmental goals.
Qualifications & Skills: Certification by ARRT (R or MR), ARMRIT, or NMTCB is required. Education includes graduation from a radiologic technology program; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Work is performed in a clinical setting with adherence to policies and procedures.
