Role Overview: MRI Technologists utilize radiofrequencies within a magnetic field to perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging. They independently conduct or assist with MRI procedures, ensuring accurate data acquisition for interpretation by licensed practitioners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct patient information, ensure proper identification, and prepare patients for exams while maintaining confidentiality.
- Apply appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and adhere to ALARA principles to ensure patient safety and quality imaging.
- Prepare and/or administer medications via vascular access as prescribed, documenting activities in compliance with laws and policies.
- Evaluate images for quality, proper positioning, and verify data storage and transfer.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, applying safety principles to minimize risk.
- Assist licensed practitioners with MRI procedures and interventional techniques.
- Select pulse sequences and data acquisition parameters based on protocols and clinical requirements.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all routine and complex duties, participate in quality improvement activities, and uphold organizational priorities.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification by ARRT (R or MR), ARMRIT, or NMTCB required upon hire.
- Graduate from a Radiologic Technology training program; a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of MRI safety, technical protocols, and patient care.
- Ability to educate others, work independently, and participate in departmental improvements.
