Role Overview: MRI Technologists utilize radiofrequencies within a magnetic field to perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging procedures. They independently conduct MRI scans, analyze data for diagnosis, and assist licensed practitioners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct order, verify patient identity, and prepare for exams while maintaining confidentiality.
- Apply appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and ensure patient safety following ALARA principles.
- Prepare, administer, and document medications as prescribed, adhering to legal regulations.
- Evaluate image quality, verify data storage or transfer, and perform post-processing if needed.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Apply MRI safety principles to minimize risks and assist with interventional procedures.
- Select pulse sequences based on protocols and data acquisition needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification from ARRT, NMTCB, ARMRIT, or equivalent required; new graduates must obtain certification prior to employment.
- Experience in radiologic technology and MRI safety knowledge is essential.
- Completion of a specialty training program in radiologic technology; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
