Role Overview: The MRI Technologist I is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures to assist in diagnosis, ensuring patient safety, and adhering to protocols. They independently execute or support licensed practitioners in MRI scans, prepare and administer medications as authorized, and evaluate images for quality and accuracy. The role includes patient identification, proper preparation, and education, with a focus on safety principles and minimizing risks. The technologist also assists with MRI safety implant investigations and participates in interventional procedures when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct order, identify and prepare patients, document clinical history, and maintain confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles.
- Prepare and/or administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate image quality, verify data transfer, and perform post-processing as needed.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Apply MRI safety protocols to reduce risks to patients and staff.
- Assist with MRI procedures and select appropriate pulse sequences based on protocols.
Qualifications & Skills: Candidates must have a specialty training program in radiologic technology and hold relevant certifications such as ARRT, NMTCB, or ARMRIT. New graduates are required to obtain certification before employment. Knowledge of MRI safety, technical imaging principles, and medication administration is essential. The role demands attention to detail, patient care skills, and adherence to safety standards.
