MRI Technologist

Role Overview: The MRI Technologist performs independent, safe, and high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring patient comfort and privacy. They utilize technical skills to adjust imaging techniques, operate equipment, and verify accurate patient identification. The role involves patient preparation, positioning, administering contrast, and responding to emergencies, all while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining equipment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide age-appropriate patient care, obtain clinical histories, and ensure proper study documentation.
  • Operate MRI equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and maintain a sterile environment.
  • Explain procedures to patients, address questions, and ensure understanding using communication best practices.
  • Participate in quality control by producing acceptable images, verifying equipment calibration, and transmitting studies promptly.
  • Assist with patient transport, setup, and administrative tasks such as charging and supply restocking.
  • Follow established policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, including joint commission guidelines.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Accredited program in Medical Technology and minimum one year of MRI experience.
  • Certifications: ARMRIT or ARRT-MRI, BLS or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer service orientation, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong knowledge of MRI procedures, anatomy, pathology, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and function independently or as part of a team.

Additional Requirements: Dependability, adaptability, proficiency with MRI equipment, and compliance with hospital policies. The role may include on-call duties and supporting departmental training and operations.
