MRI Technologist

Role Overview: MRI Technologists utilize radiofrequencies within a magnetic field to perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging procedures. They independently operate MRI equipment, prepare and administer medications as prescribed, and ensure patient safety and proper documentation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain correct orders, identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Use appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to ensure safety.
  • Evaluate image quality, verify data transfer, and perform post-processing if needed.
  • Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
  • Apply magnetic resonance safety principles to minimize risks.
  • Assist with MRI interventional procedures and perform MRI scans as prescribed.
  • Select pulse sequences considering protocols and data acquisition factors.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and demonstrate proficiency in routine and complex tasks.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Certification from ARRT (MR), ARMRIT, or NMTCB with ARRT-MR or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a radiologic technology specialty training program; a related bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to safety, patient care, and organizational priorities.
