Role Overview: Performs clinical laboratory testing under supervision, utilizing established protocols that require independent judgment. Maintains equipment and records, conducts quality assurance activities, and may supervise or train laboratory staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures accuracy in patient testing, quality assurance, proficiency, and competency assessments.
- Maintains proper specimen identification and documents QA investigations and trends.
- Reports lab data accurately within turnaround times, analyzing and interpreting results with clinical relevance.
- Monitors and resolves test status issues, documents in LIS, and adheres to departmental procedures and standards.
- Supports laboratory performance improvement initiatives, contributes to inspection readiness, and practices cost-efficient workflows.
- Maintains current knowledge of policies, regulatory compliance, and safety standards.
- Participates in meetings, educational activities, and team projects.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Science, or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Certifications such as MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), or equivalent required upon hire.
- At least 1 year of laboratory experience preferred.
- Proficient in computer data entry, with skills in Excel, Word, and basic computer operations; experience with Epic and 3M is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with healthcare team members.
