Role Overview: Performs quality diagnostic laboratory testing on various specimens, demonstrating clinical competencies in laboratory procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts and analyzes laboratory tests accurately and efficiently.
- Prepares reagents, standards, and controls per established protocols.
- Maintains and calibrates laboratory instruments to ensure proper functioning.
- Researches and develops new testing procedures as assigned.
- Adheres to safety, hospital, department, and personnel policies.
- Utilizes computer skills for laboratory and hospital information systems.
- Contributes to team efforts, quality improvement, and department productivity.
- Supports orientation and training of new staff and students.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support laboratory operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or related field.
- Certification eligibility (e.g., ASCP or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience in blood banking, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, or urinalysis in accredited labs is preferred.
- Military medical lab training or equivalent education satisfies pathway requirements.
- Required certifications include ASCP, AMT, or equivalent.
