Medical Laboratory Scientist

Role Overview: The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs and reports various analyses from multiple specimen sources, ensuring high-quality patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities: Maintain productivity, manage multiple processes efficiently, handle specimens properly, confirm identification, and use proper accessioning procedures. Recognize discrepancies, resolve issues, perform instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control. Replenish reagents, follow reporting protocols, navigate computer applications, assist in training new staff, and participate in ongoing education.

Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with successful completion of an accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program or equivalent experience. Certification from ASCP or NAACLS is preferred. Ability to perform analyses accurately, troubleshoot instruments, and follow safety and quality standards.

Work Environment & Expectations: Typically performed in a clinical setting, adhering to organization policies. Additional department-specific competencies may be required.
