The Licensed Mental Health Professional will be a key member of an innovative Safe Options Support (SOS) team, providing comprehensive care to homeless individuals living on the streets or subways.
The multi-disciplinary team includes a Team leader, Licensed Clinicians, Care Managers, and Peer Specialists, utilizing the evidence-based Critical Time Intervention model. This role involves community outreach, street-based work, coordinating needs pre- and post-housing, supporting daily living skills, providing counseling, and advocating against discrimination and healthcare inequities. Emphasis on member choice, harm reduction, non-coercion, and person-centered approaches is essential. The team follows participants for months after housing to ensure stability and wellbeing. Work requires field-based activities, periodic on-call hours, and flexible scheduling.
