Job Summary:
Responsible for performing phlebotomy procedures (blood draws) in laboratory and hospital settings.
- Maintain blood drawing trays, keep them stocked, and ensure the drawing area is neat and organized. Order supplies as needed.
- Accurately record all blood draw data and orders in the computer system.
- Verify patient identity by matching request details with wristbands.
- Notify medical technologists when tests are completed.
- Use proper technique to prepare venipuncture sites, minimizing the number of sticks.
- Perform procedures professionally, dispose of equipment properly, and seek assistance with difficult patients.
- Utilize available time effectively by assisting with clerical tasks and supporting staff.
- Follow hospital policies, understand emergency procedures, and demonstrate good rapport with staff and patients.
- Travel between hospital campuses for procedures as necessary and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
