Interventional Radiology Technologist

Role: Interventional Technologist, performing or assisting in cardiac, neuro, body, and vascular-interventional procedures. Responsible for preparing, administering medications, and managing radiation exposure per regulations. Operates imaging modalities, evaluates images, and ensures data quality. Provides patient care, monitors physiological data, and maintains sterile technique. Educates healthcare providers and students, participates in quality improvement activities, and adheres to safety protocols. Manages intra-arterial access, performs manual hemostasis, and operates diagnostic and hemodynamic equipment.

Qualifications: Requires ARRT-R certification with advanced ARRT-VI, CI, or CV credentials for radiology; or graduation from an accredited cardiovascular tech program with ARRT and RCIS or RCES certification for cardiology. ACLS certification mandated; PALS for pediatric cases. Education includes specialized radiologic training.

Key Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure correct patient identification and proper exam preparation.
  • Utilize imaging protocols to optimize patient safety and adhere to ALARA principles.
  • Administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
  • Evaluate and process images for diagnostic quality and proper documentation.
  • Maintain sterile technique and manage intra-arterial access.
  • Monitor and record hemodynamic and electrophysiological data during procedures.
  • Operate and ensure quality control of medical devices and equipment.
  • Participate in safety protocols, emergency response (ACLS), and process improvements.
