Role Overview: An Interventional Technologist performs or assists with cardiac, neuro, body, and vascular-interventional procedures, ensuring patient safety, proper preparation, and accurate imaging data collection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct patient order, verify identity, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and adhere to ALARA principles.
- Administer medications via vascular access as prescribed, evaluate image quality, and verify data transfer.
- Educate and monitor healthcare team members and students.
- Assist with or perform diagnostic, fluoroscopic, and interventional procedures.
- Maintain intra-arterial access, monitor physiological data, and perform manual hemostasis.
- Operate and ensure quality control of diagnostic equipment, monitor hemodynamic data, and initiate ACLS protocols when needed.
- Practice sterile techniques and document procedural data accurately.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and demonstrate proficiency in all job duties.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certifications by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) with advanced specialization in interventional radiology or cardiovascular technology.
- For cardiology roles: graduation from an accredited cardiovascular program or ARRT certification with RCIS or RCES credentials.
- ACLS certification required; PALS certification preferred for specific locations.
- Graduate of a radiologic technology training program.
