Role Overview: An occupational therapist assesses, plans, and implements rehabilitative programs to restore or improve patients’ functional abilities related to daily activities, mobility, cognition, strength, coordination, and range of motion. Services are provided across the continuum in a cost-effective, quality-driven, and patient-centered manner, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Treatment Planning & Care: Implements treatment plans, selects appropriate activities, revises goals with patient/family input, provides education, discharge instructions, and referrals.
- Patient Assessment: Collaborates with physicians to establish and evaluate treatment plans, goals, and discharge strategies tailored to patient needs.
- Documentation: Maintains accurate records of evaluations, treatment sessions, education, and discharge information according to protocols.
- Professional & Customer Service: Upholds ethical standards, maintains confidentiality, demonstrates effective communication, fosters teamwork, and delivers excellent patient service using AIDET principles.
- Professional Development: Engages in ongoing education, completes required competencies, and participates in staff training and meetings.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Occupational Therapy
- Licenses & Certifications: Occupational Therapist license and BLS certification
- Skills: Effective communication, customer service focus, teamwork, basic computer proficiency
