Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant PTA PRN

Position Overview: A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides intermittent physical therapy services in patients’ homes under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). The PTA administers treatments, educates patients and caregivers, monitors patient progress, and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop and execute the patient’s care plan.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct physical therapy according to the plan of care and physician instructions.
  • Communicate updates and educate patients and caregivers on treatment and device usage.
  • Report patient observations and progress to supervisors and physicians.
  • Provide pain relief, functional development, or restoration therapies.
  • Assist with discharge planning and education for continued recovery.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards, maintain patient confidentiality, and document care accurately.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Graduation from an accredited PTA program.
  • Current, unrestricted state licensure as a PTA.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Preferred: strong organization, communication, attention to detail, time management, and experience in home health therapy and OASIS documentation.
