Role Overview:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Health Care Technician (HCT) provides support to nursing staff by assisting with personal care, hygiene, and vital signs for assigned patients. They facilitate communication among departments, visitors, and staff, serving as a public relations liaison for the unit. The HCT performs tasks such as maintaining supplies, documenting patient data, assisting with activities of daily living, preparing patients for transport, and providing direct patient care including specimen collection, hygiene, feeding, and removing lines or catheters. They monitor patient safety through bedside care and remote video sitters, troubleshoot camera systems, and float to various units as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
– High school diploma or GED
– Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or relevant clinical experience
– Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days
– Competency in vital signs measurement, glucose testing, and intake/output recording
– Ability to assist with patient activities and ensure safety
