Role Overview: The Radiation Therapist delivers precise ionizing radiation treatments to diverse patients in accordance with physician prescriptions. They operate radiation equipment safely, perform complex technical procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in quality control and ensure accurate treatment delivery
- Assess patients, perform procedures, and provide specialty care tailored to different age groups
- Document all procedures accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Educate patients and families on treatment side effects and usage of treatment aids
- Adhere to safety protocols, including radiation safety measures and universal precautions
- Complete patient set-ups accurately, simulate treatments, and schedule patients appropriately
- Assist with additional tasks, participate in on-call rotations, and act as a clinical instructor for students
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited Radiation Therapy program
- ARRT Radiation Therapy certification and BLS certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of radiation therapy experience preferred
- Ability to treat and simulate patients effectively
