Seeking a Patient Financial Counselor to assist patients with financial concerns, including counseling on healthcare coverage, assessing payment sources, developing payment plans, and collecting payments.
Responsibilities include:
- Screening patients for eligibility of healthcare coverage and financial assistance programs
- Providing counseling on financial responsibilities and in-house programs like Free Care, Discounted Care, and Payment Plans
- Assessing and offering financial assistance to inpatients prior to discharge
- Collaborating with departments to determine financial options for procedures and price shopping
- Recording outreach statistics, maximizing revenue, and minimizing bad debt
- Ensuring a safe environment and adhering to safety policies
Qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 2 years of customer service experience in healthcare, accounting, or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to travel locally and work scheduled hours, including one Saturday per month
- Minimum age of 18 years
Preferred qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or Business
- Experience in a hospital setting and knowledge of medical terminology
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience with electronic medical records and patient-centered care
