Emergency Medicine Pharmacist

Role Overview: The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring safe, evidence-based medication use within the healthcare facility. They verify appropriate medication orders, prevent and resolve medication-related issues, and provide patient-centered therapy recommendations. They oversee pharmacy technicians, participate in interdisciplinary teams, and engage in teaching to support the hospital’s mission.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clinical pharmaceutical care, including medication safety and adherence to standards (TJC, BOP, CMS).
  • Verify medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare team members on medication use.
  • Participate in quality and safety initiatives, such as adverse event reporting, clinical guideline development, and medication use evaluation.
  • Ensure efficient, safe medication distribution, collaborating with pharmacy staff, and overseeing pharmacy technicians.
  • Support professional development by precepting students and participating in educational activities.
  • Contribute to departmental programs, services, and practice improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies and standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s or Doctorate in Pharmacy.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Registered Pharmacist (RPH) certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in pharmacy roles, including technician, intern, or pharmacist.
  • Skills: Strong clinical knowledge, communication, teamwork, and commitment to professional development.
