ECMO Specialist 3-12

Role Overview: The ECMO Specialist oversees daily operation and monitoring of the ECMO program, ensuring circuit function, safety, and patient stability. They collaborate with bedside staff to maintain adequate perfusion, acid-base balance, and hemodynamics in patients from neonatal to geriatric populations.


Responsibilities include: Troubleshooting ECMO equipment, managing blood products and medications, performing quality control and preventive maintenance, and managing CRRT when connected. They participate in physical/occupational therapy, handle emergencies, and support staffing needs.


Qualifications: Requires either a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy or Nursing program with Florida licensure, with at least 2 years ICU experience. Preferred candidates have ECMO experience with Primer training. Certifications include BLS, PALS (within 6 weeks), ACLS (within 6 weeks), and licensure as RRT or RN.
