Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, acquire and analyze diagnostic data, and assist licensed practitioners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct patient identification, prepare for exams, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, prioritize patient safety, and apply ALARA principles.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access under licensed practitioner guidance.
- Evaluate images for quality, verify storage/transfer of data, and perform post-processing as needed.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Assist practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including outside of radiology settings.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (required).
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months.
- Applicants hired after a specified date must complete steps to advance to level 2 within 24 months.
Work Environment & Expectations: Typically performed in clinical settings, with accountability for compliance with policies and procedures. Additional department-specific skills may be required.
