Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes, performing a full range of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. They independently execute or assist licensed practitioners in radiologic tasks, ensuring proper patient identification, preparation, and documentation while adhering to confidentiality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, verify patient identity, and prepare for exams.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to ensure patient safety.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate image quality, verify data storage, and process images accordingly.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including outside the radiology department.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (required).
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months.
- Applicants hired after a specified date must complete steps for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.
