Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes, performing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures to acquire diagnostic data for licensed practitioners.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring correct patient identification, proper preparation, and documenting clinical history with confidentiality.
- Using appropriate imaging protocols, optimizing technical factors, and applying ALARA principles to ensure patient safety.
- Preparing and/or administering medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluating images for quality, proper positioning, and verifying data transfer or storage.
- Educating and monitoring students and healthcare providers.
- Assisting practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including outside of radiology settings.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduation from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registration within 6 months; applicants hired after a specified date must advance to level 2 within 24 months.
- Knowledge of radiologic procedures, medication administration, and radiation safety.
- Strong attention to detail, patient care, and collaboration skills.
