Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging procedures using ionizing radiation. They independently execute radiographic and fluoroscopic exams, ensuring patient safety, proper positioning, and data accuracy for interpretation by licensed practitioners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history with confidentiality.
- Use appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed, maintaining safety and compliance.
- Evaluate images for quality, proper positioning, and verify data transfer and storage.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare team members.
- Assist practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including in operating rooms, endoscopy, and ICU settings.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate of a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R certification within 6 months.
- Applicants hired after a certain date must progress to level 2 within 24 months.
