Role Summary: Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research procedures involving ionizing radiation. They independently execute radiographic and fluoroscopic exams, ensuring accurate data acquisition for diagnosis and interpretation by licensed practitioners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct patient order, ensure proper identification, and prepare patients for exams while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to maximize safety and quality.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed, documenting activities in compliance with laws and policies.
- Evaluate images for proper positioning and technical quality, verify data storage and transfer, and perform post-processing if needed.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, and assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures.
- Perform diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures both within and outside the radiology department, such as in operating rooms or ICU.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate of a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R certification within six months; existing staff hired after a specified date must progress to level 2 within 24 months.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety, patient care, and technical imaging principles.
