Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research-related radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, acquiring and analyzing data for interpretation by licensed practitioners. They independently execute or assist with procedures, prepare and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure following legal and institutional guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, properly identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to ensure patient safety and care.
- Prepare and/or administer medications through vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate images for quality, proper positioning, and verify data storage or transfer.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, and assist licensed practitioners in fluoroscopic and specialized procedures.
- Perform diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures across various clinical settings.
Qualifications & Skills: Graduation from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology is required; a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. New graduates must obtain ARRT-R certification within six months. The role demands adherence to policies, attention to detail, technical proficiency, and the ability to work in diverse clinical environments.
