Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging procedures using ionizing radiation. They independently conduct radiographic and fluoroscopic exams, ensuring accurate data acquisition for interpretation by licensed practitioners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, properly identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to ensure patient safety and quality imaging.
- Prepare and administer medications through vascular access as prescribed, and evaluate images for proper positioning and quality.
- Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including outside the radiology department.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, and ensure proper data storage and transfer.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months of hire; new hires after a specified date must advance to level 2 within 24 months.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety, imaging protocols, and patient care.
