Role Overview: Responsible for performing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, administering ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. Supports hospital inpatient and emergency services, ensuring accurate imaging, patient safety, and compliance with laws and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate images for quality, proper positioning, and verify data transfer and storage.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including outside the Radiology Department.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Radiologic Technology training program (required).
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months.
- Ability to perform diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures independently or assist licensed practitioners.
- Strong attention to patient safety, technical skills, and adherence to regulations.
