Role Overview: Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and research imaging procedures using ionizing radiation. They independently execute or assist licensed practitioners in CT and molecular imaging, ensuring accurate data acquisition and analysis for diagnosis and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, identify patients, and prepare them for exams while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles for patient safety.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate image quality, verify data storage or transfer, and perform post-processing if needed.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Assist with interventional procedures and perform CT scans as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification by ARRT or NMTCB required upon hire; new graduates must obtain certification prior to starting.
- Advancement to level 2 and additional certifications required within 24 months for hires after a specified date.
- Graduate of a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Work Environment: Primarily performed in a clinical setting, adhering to all policies and procedures. Additional department-specific skills may be required for optimal performance.
