Role Overview: Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and research imaging procedures using ionizing radiation. They prepare patients, ensure proper identification, and follow safety protocols to optimize image quality while adhering to ALARA principles. Responsibilities include administering medications and radiation exposure legally, evaluating images for quality, and assisting with interventional procedures. They also educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, supporting licensed practitioners as needed.
Key Duties:
- Obtain correct orders, prepare patients, and document clinical history securely.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, maximize patient safety, and optimize technical factors.
- Administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate images for accuracy, quality, and proper storage or transfer.
- Assist with and perform CT procedures under licensed practitioner supervision.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare team members.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification by ARRT or NMTCB required upon hire; new graduates must obtain certification before starting.
- Ability to perform or assist with interventional procedures and evaluate imaging quality.
- Graduate of Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
