Role Overview: Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and research imaging procedures involving ionizing radiation. They independently conduct or assist with CT and molecular imaging, ensuring accurate data acquisition for diagnosis and interventions.
Responsibilities include:
- Obtaining correct orders, properly identifying and preparing patients, and documenting clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Applying appropriate imaging protocols, optimizing technical factors, and adhering to ALARA principles for patient safety.
- Preparing and administering medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluating image quality, verifying data storage, and processing data as needed.
- Educating and monitoring students and healthcare providers.
- Assisting with interventional procedures and performing CT scans based on licensed practitioner directives.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) required.
- New graduates must obtain ARRT-R or NMTCB certification prior to employment.
- Completion of a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Ability to comply with institutional policies and demonstrate technical proficiency.
Work Environment & Additional Info: Primarily clinical setting, with responsibilities including medication administration, image evaluation, and interventional support. Continued education and certification advancement are encouraged.
