Job Summary
Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform CT and molecular imaging procedures, acquire and analyze data for diagnosis and intervention, and assist licensed practitioners. Responsibilities include patient preparation, verifying clinical history, optimizing imaging protocols, administering medications, evaluating image quality, and ensuring data transfer and storage. They also educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, assist with interventional procedures, and participate in quality improvement activities. Work is conducted in a clinical environment, with accountability to organizational policies. Qualifications include certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) with ARRT-CT. Education requires graduation from a Radiologic Technology program; a related bachelor’s degree is preferred.
