Role Overview:
Provides direct patient care in an outpatient oncology setting, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing standards.
Collaborates with an interprofessional team to develop, implement, and document individualized care plans, ensuring effective communication across care continuum.
Educates patients and families on illness management, post-treatment care, and medication administration to promote patient-centered healing.
Participates in activities supporting patient safety, quality improvement, and professional growth.
Uses critical nursing skills to evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, respecting patient values and cultural considerations.
Maintains safety-sensitive responsibilities, requiring alertness and safe work practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- RN license with a Nursing Diploma/Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred)
- Oncology experience is preferred
- 2+ years of nursing experience is desirable
- Ability to work PRN shifts including days, nights, weekdays, or weekends
- Strong communication, assessment, and patient education skills
Key Duties:
- Manage scheduled outpatient infusion treatments such as chemotherapy, blood products, and IV hydration
- Provide symptom management and urgent care in collaboration with Nurse Practitioners
- Assist in initial inpatient care for eligible patients
- Promote a healing environment through patient and family education
