Charge Registered Nurse Operating Room

Role Overview:
The RN Charge Nurse provides leadership and clinical expertise during their shift, coordinating resources to ensure appropriate staffing and patient care. They serve as a clinical support for staff, model professionalism, and oversee unit operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients holistically and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Delegate, coordinate, and supervise nursing care to ensure quality and safety.
  • Manage staffing needs, optimize resource utilization, and handle operational leadership within the unit.
  • Evaluate patient responses, revise care plans, and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Promote professional behavior, coaching staff, and fostering accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and incident management.
  • Support effective communication and conflict resolution among staff, patients, and families.
  • Complete required Charge Nurse training and engage in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Current RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience in clinical nursing and mentoring.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN); completion within four years if hired without one.
  • Strong assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, collaboration, leadership, and communication skills.
