Charge Nurse (RN) – Medical Center

Role Overview: The RN Clinical Charge Nurse oversees daily unit operations, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care through effective leadership, coordination, and clinical expertise. They serve as a resource for staff, promote evidence-based practices, and foster a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage staffing, patient assignments, and unit resources to optimize care delivery.
  • Conduct patient rounds, evaluate care quality, and ensure adherence to safety and clinical standards.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary communication, including physician rounds and patient handoffs.
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives, participate in committees, and support survey readiness.
  • Mentor and support professional development of team members, serving as a preceptor or role model.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational policies, including safety standards.
  • Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Associates or Bachelor of Nursing; preferred Bachelor’s.
  • Current RN license and certifications such as BLS; national specialty certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year nursing experience; 2 years as relief charge preferred.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in technology and clinical documentation, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.
