Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

Role Overview: Provides anesthesia care in the Operating Room to support surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. Responsible for preoperative evaluation, postoperative follow-up, and acting as a patient advocate, liaison, and confidant for patients, families, and physicians.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Anesthetizes patients, selects drugs, and manages anesthesia induction and maintenance.
  • Responds to emergencies, maintains airway, and monitors patient vital signs, adjusting medications as needed.
  • Communicates patient status with surgical team, interprets hemodynamic data, and ensures patient stability throughout perioperative phases.
  • Conducts thorough preoperative evaluations, organizes OR setup, and performs equipment checks.
  • Coordinates with staff to ensure patient safety, including positioning and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Provides anesthesia support across assigned areas, accurately documents in EMR, and safely transports patients.
  • Serves as a mentor, preceptor, and expert to peers, staff, residents, students, and nursing staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia techniques, patient monitoring, and emergency procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to interpret clinical data and respond effectively in high-pressure situations.
