Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
Role & Responsibilities: The COTA provides diagnostic evaluations and develops treatment plans under supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
They assist patients in achieving maximum functional independence through therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and use of assistive devices.
Responsibilities include designing and administering therapy programs, fabricating splints and adaptive equipment, and conducting home assessments.
They provide education on energy conservation, safety, and self-care, and participate in pre-vocational and developmental activities.
Maintaining accurate patient records, collaborating with team members, and ensuring safety compliance are essential duties.
Qualifications & Skills: A bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy, current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association, and strong supervisory and customer service skills are required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with adaptive tools are preferred.
Strong decision-making, active listening, and the ability to work independently are vital. Knowledge of safety protocols, resident rights, HIPAA, and infection control is essential.
