Certified Medical Assistant – Float Pool

Role Overview: Provides direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient setting, functioning as a key member of the healthcare team under the provider’s guidance. Performs clinical duties such as patient preparation, vital signs, technical procedures, and documentation in the electronic medical record. Supports a safe, clean environment and assists with minor procedures, medication administration, specimen collection, and laboratory tasks.


Responsibilities include:

  • Obtaining patient information, vitals, and screening data using electronic tools.
  • Preparing examination rooms and assisting patients with visits, ensuring safety and privacy.
  • Supporting providers during procedures, performing EKGs, wound care, and minor surgical tasks within competency.
  • Collecting lab specimens, performing phlebotomy, and managing related documentation.
  • Handling clerical duties such as scheduling, filing reports, verifying insurance, and collecting payments.
  • Facilitating patient communication, education, and follow-up as directed by providers.
  • Maintaining sterilization and infection control protocols, inspecting equipment, and managing supplies.
  • Participating in patient safety and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or GED required; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred. Certification as a CMA or RMA from an approved agency is mandatory. Strong clinical skills, competency in procedures, excellent communication, and adherence to safety and infection control standards are essential.
