Certified Medical Assistant Flex

Role Overview: Provides direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient setting, collaborating as part of the healthcare team under provider supervision. Performs clinical duties such as preparing patients, collecting vital signs, assisting during examinations and procedures, and supporting patient safety and privacy. Handles administrative tasks including scheduling, documentation, referrals, billing inquiries, and inventory management. Ensures accurate record-keeping through electronic medical records and maintains a safe, sterile environment by following infection control protocols.


Responsibilities:

  • Obtains and documents patient information, vital signs, and screening data.
  • Prepares exam and treatment rooms, assists with procedures, and supports provider during minor surgeries.
  • Performs EKGs, wound dressings, phlebotomy, and administers medications as trained.
  • Collects lab specimens, completes paperwork, and supports laboratory functions.
  • Supports clerical duties such as scheduling, filing, and patient communication.
  • Facilitates patient education, manages supplies, and maintains infection control standards.
  • Participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, and assists in training new staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required; specialty training preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required.
  • Certification from recognized governing bodies such as NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.
  • Strong communication, organization, and infection control skills.
  • Ability to perform clinical procedures accurately and efficiently.
