Certified Medical Assistant – CMA – Primary Care

Role Overview: This position involves providing outpatient clinical and administrative support as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care, including preparing patients, taking vital signs, performing EKGs, wound dressings, and assisting with minor surgical procedures.
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens, perform phlebotomy, and support testing and reporting.
  • Assist providers during examinations, support patient safety, and reinforce patient education.
  • Manage clerical duties such as scheduling, documentation, billing inquiries, and maintaining medical records using electronic systems.
  • Ensure infection control protocols, sterilization, and room setup between patients.
  • Participate in quality improvement, inventory management, and support new staff orientation.
  • Facilitate timely patient appointments, referrals, and pre-authorizations, and collect co-payments.

    Qualifications & Skills: Must have a high school diploma or GED, and be certified by an approved governing body (NHA, AMT, AAMA, etc.). Preferred candidates have completed a 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program. Skills include clinical competence, communication, organization, and adherence to safety protocols.

    Additional Information: Work is typically performed in a clinical environment, with possible travel. The role emphasizes compliance with policies, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
