Role Overview: Provides direct patient care and clinical support in outpatient settings, serving as a vital team member under the provider’s guidance. Performs clinical duties such as patient preparation, vital signs, technical procedures (e.g., EKGs, wound dressings), and assists during minor surgical procedures. Documents accurately in electronic medical records and supports a safe environment for patients.
Key Responsibilities: Obtains and records patient information, prepares examination rooms, assists with tests and treatments, administers medications following policies, collects laboratory specimens, performs phlebotomy, and supports patient education. Handles clerical tasks including scheduling, documentation, referrals, billing, and inventory management. Ensures infection control, maintains equipment, and participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required, with preference for accredited program graduates. Strong communication, organizational, and technical skills essential. Ability to follow protocols, support team functions, and prioritize patient needs.
