Certified Medical Assistant – CMA – Cardiology

Role Overview: This position involves providing direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient setting. The Medical Assistant functions as a vital team member under provider supervision, performing clinical duties such as preparing patients, collecting vital signs, conducting tests (e.g., EKGs, phlebotomy), administering medications (excluding IV), and assisting with minor procedures. Additionally, responsibilities include administrative tasks like scheduling, documentation, billing follow-up, and inventory management. The role emphasizes maintaining patient safety, infection control, and supporting quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills: A high school diploma or GED is required; graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred. Certification as a CMA or RMA from recognized organizations (e.g., NHA, AAMA) is mandatory. Skills include proficiency with electronic medical records, patient communication, specimen collection, and basic clinical procedures. Ability to work effectively within a team and follow safety protocols is essential.

Key Duties: Obtaining patient information, supporting examinations, performing tests, preparing treatment rooms, assisting with procedures, documenting accurately, facilitating patient flow, and supporting clinic operations. The role also involves inventory and supply management, instrument sterilization, and patient education reinforcement.
