Certified Medical Assistant – CMA

Role Overview: The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care, performs clinical and administrative duties, and supports healthcare operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtains patient information, vital signs, and screening details using electronic records.
  • Prepares examination rooms and assists patients with visits, ensuring safety and privacy.
  • Performs tests, procedures, and basic clinical tasks such as EKGs, wound dressings, and specimen collection.
  • Administers medications per policy, supports laboratory functions, and manages inventory of supplies.
  • Handles clerical duties like scheduling, documentation, referrals, co-payments, and patient communication.
  • Supports patient education and assists with onboarding new staff.
  • Maintains infection control protocols, sterilizes instruments, and ensures equipment functionality.
  • Participates in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Qualifications & Skills: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with certification from recognized bodies (NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA). Must have completed a recognized training program and possess strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills.

    Work Environment: Typically performed in a clinical setting, requiring adherence to protocols and policies. Travel may be necessary.
