Acute Inpatient Registered Nurse – RN – Dialysis

Position Overview:

The Inpatient RN CAP 2 provides clinically competent care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients across multiple locations. They may delegate tasks to care staff, participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes and program efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient assessments, document data, and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Educate patients and families on care needs and treatment procedures.
  • Recognize and report changes in patient status, collaborate with healthcare team members.
  • Administer medications, manage intradialytic transfusions, and respond to emergencies.
  • Lead, mentor, and serve as a resource for team members; may assist in outpatient settings.
  • Complete required CAP activities to maintain or advance licensure and skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Current state licensure and CPR/BLS certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of nephrology nursing experience; dialysis experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving patients/equipment.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills; ability to work in a healthcare environment with varying physical demands.

Supervision & Physical Demands:

  • May oversee care staff as designated Nurse in Charge after specific training and experience.
  • Requires frequent standing, bending, lifting, and movement of equipment and patients.
  • Work environment involves direct patient care in a healthcare setting with exposure to infectious materials.
