Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, primarily in critical care settings, demonstrating independent decision-making and protocol ventilator management. Responsibilities include medication administration, patient assessment, airway management, ventilator management and weaning, arterial blood gas analysis, and patient education. The role involves collaborating with healthcare teams, mentoring new staff and students, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
Key Duties:
- Delivering safe, high-quality patient care tailored to population-specific needs
- Performing invasive and non-invasive procedures, pulmonary diagnostics, and cardiac procedures
- Ensuring accurate documentation, electronic order entry, and promoting patient safety
- Supporting staff development and patient/family education
- Engaging in performance improvement and evidence-based practices
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Licenses/certifications including NBRC-RRT, RCP, BLS, and ACLS
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
- Strong communication, critical thinking, assessment, and computer skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals
