Role Overview:
The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment, primarily in critical care settings. They perform procedures such as ventilator management, airway management, and pulmonary testing, while ensuring quality and safety standards. The role involves patient, family, and staff education, mentoring new employees, and participating in performance improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive respiratory care, including aerosolized medications and ventilator management
- Perform patient assessments, airway management, and diagnostic testing
- Educate patients, families, and staff; mentor new employees and students
- Promote safe, evidence-based practices and quality improvement
- Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to policies
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NBRC-RRT or RCP
- 0-2 years clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with computers and healthcare databases
