Role Summary

Provides direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient setting, collaborating with healthcare providers. Performs duties such as preparing patients, collecting vital signs, administering basic tests, and supporting minor procedures, while ensuring patient safety and privacy. Manages clinical tasks like EKGs, wound dressings, phlebotomy, and medication administration within their competency. Handles administrative responsibilities including patient scheduling, documentation, referrals, billing inquiries, and inventory management. Maintains infection control protocols, sterilizes instruments, and ensures proper operation of diagnostic equipment. Supports patient education and communication, assists with orientation of new staff, and participates in quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications include graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program, certification (CMA or RMA) through recognized agencies, and proficiency in electronic medical records and clerical duties. Skills include attention to detail, patient-centered care, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards.
