Role Overview:
This position involves providing direct patient care in a fast-paced, perioperative environment, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within established nursing standards. The nurse educates patients and families about surgical processes, serves as a liaison between physicians and patients, and demonstrates competence in scrubbing and/or circulating roles across various surgical specialties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure patient safety by adhering to safety protocols, preparing surgical instruments and supplies, and monitoring for complications.
- Participate in activities promoting safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in patient education and support, acting as a communication bridge between medical staff and patients.
- Label and preserve operative specimens; furnish emergency equipment as needed.
- Contribute to professional development and mentor new staff.
Qualifications & Skills:
- RN license with 2-5 years of perioperative nursing experience.
- Educational requirement: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Certifications such as CNOR and advanced perioperative courses (Periop 101) are preferred.
- Strong critical thinking, judgment, and communication skills.
