Registered Respiratory Therapist – Weekend Nights

Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessments in complex critical care settings. They independently manage ventilators, perform airway procedures, arterial blood gas sampling, and collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality, safe, and evidence-based care while addressing patients’ biological, emotional, and educational needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing exceptional customer service through patient documentation, education, and team collaboration
  • Administering therapies such as aerosolized medications, oxygen, and medical gases
  • Managing ventilators, performing weaning, and airway management (intubation, extubation, trach care)
  • Mentoring and educating patients, new employees, and students
  • Ensuring safety and quality through accurate documentation, medication safety, and participation in performance improvement initiatives
  • Supporting invasive and non-invasive procedures and pulmonary diagnostics
  • Adhering to organizational policies and promoting evidence-based practices

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NBRC-RRT or RCP
  • 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, assessment skills, and computer proficiency
