Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research procedures involving ionizing radiation. They execute a full range of radiographic and fluoroscopic exams, preparing, administering, and documenting activities related to medications and radiation exposure in compliance with laws and policies. They independently conduct procedures or assist licensed practitioners, ensuring patient safety and quality imaging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to ensure safety and quality.
- Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate images for proper positioning and technical quality; verify data storage and transfer.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including those outside the radiology department.
Qualifications & Skills: Graduate of a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology; ARRT-R registration required within 6 months for new graduates; experience with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures; strong attention to patient safety and technical quality; ability to educate others.
Additional Details: Work is performed in clinical environments with adherence to policies. New hires must meet registration timelines; applicants after a specified date must progress to level 2 within 24 months. Emphasis on safety, collaboration, diversity, and continuous learning.
